As a rich itinerary (just short of a fortnight), no place on earth can offer up the quality of mountain and foothill birding – and comfort – that this program will. This itinerary combines northern Ecuador’s east and west slopes; think of them as neighboring relatives: close and related, but still very different. Thanks to the compactness of the Ecuadorian Andes, travel between the endemic ridden slopes are relative jaunts along newly paved highways, making the best of both worlds a reality: diversity and proximity. Comfortable, conveniently situated, and well-run lodges await, with hummingbird feeders, mixed flocks and private forest reserves right from each of their doorsteps. From Condors to Cock-of-the-Rock, and smashing hummingbird and tanager species, this is a very birdy tour that requires relatively little travel from Quito.
